Frequently Asked Questions
No. Chat2Evidence requires the actual WhatsApp export file (.txt or .zip) — not a screenshot. Screenshots cannot be hashed or certified properly. If you only have screenshots, you need to re-export the chat from WhatsApp. You can't recreate the .txt export from screenshots.
Chat2Evidence supports files up to 50 MB. For most chats without media, the .txt file is well under 1 MB even for years of conversation. If your .zip includes media, try exporting "Without Media" for a smaller file — media files are typically not needed for the text certificate.
The current tool generates a PDF for the full exported chat. Partially submitting a chat is generally inadvisable in any case — courts may reject evidence that appears selectively curated. Submitting the full conversation with relevant portions marked by your advocate is the recommended approach.
Yes. Chat2Evidence works on any modern browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge — on both mobile and desktop. The PDF generation is done entirely in your browser via JavaScript. However, for best results and to easily save and print the PDF, use a desktop or laptop computer.
The PDF follows the Section 63(4)(c) BSA 2023 requirements which apply to all Indian courts — district courts, high courts, family courts, magistrate courts, and consumer courts. However, specific procedural requirements (stamp paper, affidavit format) may vary by court. Always confirm with your advocate.
